Who are your favorite male and female swing/jazz/blues vocalists? There are a lot of amazing singers out there (besides Ella and Louis). Who gets you dancing?
For my favorite female vocalists I love Anita O'Day and Stacey Kent.
Favorite male vocalists are Joe Williams and Jimmy Rushing.

I KNEW you'd say Slim... He's cool...

I like different things at different times... Andrews sisters, "Red" Allen, Louis Jordan, Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin,

I don't know... Too many to name.

lauper just put out a new album a year ago as a tribute to New York and had some great tunes on it. I had no idea she could sing blues.

No matter what's been said, Ella's my undying, undisputed fave! Gotta love dinah, lady day, etta james, Aretha, diana ross, diane reeves, ...

Male: (not nescesarily for dancing) Louis continues to amaze me after my short years as a jazz fanatic. Jimmy Rushing, Lionel Hampton (vocals!), Ray all sing to my soul!
