Pulling this thread back on topic...Wink

So hard to choose...but here goes:

Favorite Fast Songs:

"Beyond the Sea" by Tony Paglia
"Blue Suit Boogie" by Indigo Swing
"The Boogie Bumper" by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy
"Happy Feet" by Randy Spendlove
"It Don't Mean a Thing" by the Crown Project
"Minor Swing" by the Boilermaker Jazz Band
"Mr. Pinstripe Suite" by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy
"Shout and Feel It" by Count Basie
"Sing, Sing, Sing (With a Swing)" by Louis Prima
"Suits Are Picking Up the Bill" by Squirrel Nut Zippers

Favorite Medium Songs:

"Bei Mir Bist du SchoŽn" by Janis Siegel
"The Best is Yet to Come" by James Darren
"Blues For Stephanie" by George Gee
"It's De-Lovely" by the Boilermaker Jazz Band
"I Won't Dance" by Michael Bublť & Jane Monheit
"Lavender Coffin" by Lionel Hampton
"L-O-V-E" by Nat King Cole
"Mack the Knife" by Tony Paglia
"Moondance" by Michael Bublť
"Too Darn Hot" by Ella Fitzgerald

Favorite Slow Songs:

"Fever" by Ray Charles & Natalie Cole
"Fine Brown Frame" by Lou Rawls & Dianne Reeves
"Maddest Kind of Love" by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy
"Pink Elephant" by the Cherry Poppin' Daddies
"Rip Van Winkle" by Lily Wilde
"Rocket 95" by Alien Fashion Show
"Swing Lover" by Indigo Swing
"This Business of Love" by Domino
"A Wink and a Smile" by Harry Connick Jr.
"You're the Boss" by Brian Setzer

Most Comfortable Tempo to Dance To:

It all depends on my mood & energy level, but I'd say a nice easy tempo between 140 & 160 BPM.

My choice of music is all about uniqueness & dynamics. Both in "Classic" Swing & "Modern" Swing, there are so many songs that just all sound the same as each other, and have no real dynamics or life within them (Example: Nothing but 12-bar blues chords gets old--fast). I love songs with their own unique feel, & memorable melody; songs that you don't have to ask "What song is this?"--if you've heard it, you know what it is as soon as it starts. And I love songs that have energy & life to them, not the same boring sounds & feel virtually every measure through.

Heh. So as long as we're pondering our favorite songs and breaking down things by tempo, how 'bout them songs with dramatic tempo changes in the middle?

There's one version of Bei Mir Bist Du Sheyn that does it, of course.

I'm also reminded of a cover of "Summertime" that I've heard Thomas play a few times that slows dramatically in the middle, then picks back up. That's a fun one, too.

We could easily fake one. Or does the music playing on the video have to be the music he was actually dancing to?

Why fake it if there's a real one? Laughing C'mon J, hook us up.
